Mont St MichelThis magnificent architectural masterpiece is without doubt one of France's most famous sites. Mont St Michel is the twin of St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall. This was created in the 11th century and was originally surrounded by water. Over the years this area silted up with the result of a causeway forming over which visitors could walk there. Much restoration work has gone on to make the sea surround it once again. There are 80 chapels, cells, towers and public chambers. |
